TY CHEVERIER MY FRIEND

Well it's getting closer, the date I mean for my departure from this beautiful state. I have a question for you to ponder, Do you do the right thing all the time? I will answer for most of you and say NO. I am a firm believer in Karma and with that said even I don't do right all the time.. I decided that this is more about you all and not just me... I had a great friend growing up back in Windsor CT... His name was Ty Chevreier he pasted away four and a half years ago after a battle with cancer, he was the strongest guy I knew but this disease still got him... I and most who knew Ty called him superman, he was a tough s.o.b. ... I think that those of you who knew him would say the same thing.. I have decided that this trip is going to be dedicated to him.. I would love to tell you some stories.. not sure if they are all appropriate but for me I remember the days of Moreno Bros. Landscaping, this was well before the Jack and Allen show.. We use to have a blast, we had one riding mower and Ty would always jump on and offer an auction to the highest bidder,, if you knew TY you know what I mean, for those who don't, Ty was a big dude and your only way to get on that mower was to pay... It was hilarious.. He would offer to wrestle for it, but you would lose so that wasn't an option so needless to say he would run that machine most days... I remember we say Chris Rock do stand up in East Hartford, we sat in the front row and when Ty became the bud of Mr. rocks jokes , I was laughing so hard, and afriad for Chris Rock, and from that point on his humor to me mimiced that, TY was sarcastically funny, and competitive oh my, I lost $20 one time to TY shooting free throws in a customers driveway while everyone else was working.. There are so many more... As a father he was extrodinary, a coach and mentor to all kids he came in contact with. He was the kind of guy who would do whatever he could for you... I still point to the sky every time journey plays on the radio,, that was his favorite band.. If any of my readers have a great story about Ty, I would for you to share....!!! He was family to me... So with all that being said I would like everyone to follow me on this adventure across the US...He will be walking with me, The type of cancer he had was rare, Chondrosarcoma.. If there are any other people who have a story of someone with this rare disease please share.. This is now a mission for me as well as a soul search..

I hope you all have a few minutes for following this journey, "he said journey" It will be a whopper...

The Plan

Well where do I begin,....... I am a chef by trade but there isn't much I haven't done. I am currently in Kodiak AK and glad I came here. My life has been a roller coaster to say the least. From growing up in a great family atmosphere to being on your own in the blink of an eye... Life is what you make it I have learned along the way. My goal here is not fame and fortune but a chance to discover myself and what I am capable of. This trip I am taking is for my future or to find my future.. I am going to enlist a charity that will benefit from my journey and all I will see.. MY PLAN: My plan is to hike from Kodiak AK to Connecticut, of course a boat ride will have to start me off as I am on an island. From there (Seattle WA) my trip takes me south to Hollywood, no specific reason just a stop along the way. Then across to Nevada, always wanted to go there and across to Missouri the state of my birth.. On to the Carolinas where I spent a good couple of years and made great friends and then home to Connecticut... where I will start over once again and hopefully be successful at what ever it is I decide to do.. So there's the itinerary.. THE REASON: My travels up to this point have been out of necessity rather than planning. But I have seen a lot along the way.. Can't forget Mississippi right jack? But I have a real passion for food and cooking, so my trip will consist of many stops along the way to sample great food and meet extraordinary people and hear there stories.. I think with this opportunity I can make a difference in peoples lives by writing and documenting my travels in order to let people see this great country from my perspective and that of everyone I meet. I hope You all follow me on this trip across the great US.. Please feel free to leave me messages and updates on your lives as well. Always remember :
JUST CAUSE YOU'VE NEVER TASTED IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT
GREAT!!!!!

Getting my ducks in a row!!

Hey everyone this is my first entry as a blogger. My plan is coming together nicely. I am leaving kodiak ak on march 23, 2010, My joruney will start with a 4 day boat trip from her to bellingham then in to seattle where i will start my walk. I am still looking for sponsors but I have secured a boat ticket for the first leg of my journey. I want everyone to stay with me and I will keep you updated everyday.. The stories will be exciting and the pictures and videos will be worth the wait. Ok it's Feb. 19, 32 days to departure and counting. I am trying to find a cause I really beleive in so this trip will be more than about me.. If I can raise money for a good cause than that will make this adventure more enjoyable.. Signing off The Traveling Chef... Just cause you've never tasted it doesn't mean it's not great!!!!
